In our late Victorian, suburban family of London, Julia is a typical Victorian wife with a variety of pastimes and other leisure activities.
When not helping Florence in the kitchen, and not visiting on behalf of the church, she visits her friends and, like today, hosts occasional small dinner parties.
Julia also goes out to work and church-related events, such as dinners and dances.
She sometimes cares for the children, particularly on Sundays and when Mary has time off.
On Sunday, the whole family attends church in the morning. After lunch they go on walks, or play games, read or sing round the piano. Julia is pleased that her eldest daughter Constance is turning out to be very musical.
