Hall, Landing and Staircase

Restoring this area of a house is a major project though in most cases not too complex; it normally involves carpentry and decorating.

In the example below, a plain hall, stairs and landing need to be given some period character. The mockup on the right shows many of the changes that could be made - dark stained or painted wood, a runner carpet with stair rods, and a dark hall floor. The dado and walls could be darkened too for a Victorian house.
