What furniture and fittings would you have found in the hall of Victorian and Edwardian houses?
The hall needed to be warm, welcoming and spacious but this was hard to achieve in any but the largest houses; so this had to be achieved with the furnishings and décor.
In the typical small hall, the only items of furniture would have been a small chair and a hat and umbrella stand. On the landing there might have been a small table or chair in a corner.
