Chimneys in Victorian and Edwardian Houses

Until the advent of gas heating in the 20th century, the only means of heating was by open fires and cast iron ranges. The chimney was an essential feature of Victorian and Edwardian houses.

Decoration is usually in the shaped brickwork at the top of the stack and in the pots.
