The porch had a low red brick wall, capped with flat-topped stucco(?) slabs with a chamfered edge. Turned posts were set into the slabs. A screen of turned wood poles was set beneath the roof.
It is presumed that a cast iron ogee gutter was present, matching the main guttering.
The roof was tiled with about 15 courses of machine-made terracotta tiles. The middle four or five courses used a decorative tile, the others being plain. The hip was probably made from cut tiles i.e. with no lead roll or ridge tiles. Flashing was plain, undecorated lead.
The decorative tile is shown below:
The porch had either a marble terrazzo floor (lower numbers only) or was tiled to match the front path.
The lower numbers had a stained glass window to the side of the door, matching the glass in the door. The end house of each block of four houses generally had a matching window on the flank.
To the side of the door there was a wooden pattress with a brass electric door bell with a china button.
