Gothic Fabric

Remember that for the Victorian, the quality and richness of decoration was an indicator of wealth; fashionable fabrics declared success.

Furnishing fabrics in the Victorian Gothic house were usually of simple, flat patterns. They used geometric or historical motifs, or else quiet floral designs.

Some designs, by people such as Owen Jones, were more eclectic with Moorish, Classical, Egyptian and even Chinese influences.
